NewSchool of Architecture and Design

Architecture and Digital Media Arts are integrative professions that necessitate a commitment to lifelong learning and exploration. This integration requires the mental agility to learn new disciplines and to communicate effectively. The NewSchool of Architecture and Design is dedicated to giving students the skills necessary to adapt and excel in a changing professional environment. In addition to learning their professions, students are instructed in a variety of areas including oral and written communication, computer application, library research, problem analysis and critical thinking.

Location: The NewSchool of Architecture and Design is located in beautiful San Diego, California, at 1249 F Street.

Admissions: NewSchool admits students who demonstrate an interest in the study of architecture and potential to be successful in the field. Applicants are considered each quarter on a space available basis. Therefore, applicants are advised to apply early.

Financial aid: Financial aid is available to students who qualify. NewSchool's helpful financial aid counselors can assist students in tapping the appropriate aid sources.

Career Services: Careers services are available from the Career Services department. Alumni also enjoy the benefit of lifetime career assistance.

Accreditation: In the United States, most state registration boards require a degree from an accredited professional degree program as a prerequisite for licensure. The National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB), which is the sole agency authorized to accredit U.S. professional degree programs in architecture, recognizes three types of degrees: the Bachelor of Architecture, the Master of Architecture, and the Doctor of Architecture. A program may be granted a 6-year, 3-year, or 2-year term of accreditation, depending on the extent of its conformance with established educational standards.
